Musical TheatreWith the release of High School Musical 3 today, I think it’s timely that we discuss yet another important tool that you can use to further your EffTD training.  While music unto itself is a great tool, it spawns several tools as well.  Lessons, clubbing and “iPodding” are some of these.  Watching music-based programming like MTV, MuchMusic and the like used to be considered as well, but they no longer play music videos as a major part of their programming.  These channels had already succeeded in their missions of killing the careers of less TV-friendly faces like Christopher Cross and countless others (that I cannot remember as I can’t put faces ot the names), so there is really no need for them to continue doing what they did.  Now they can just fill the void left by the absence of Robin Leach and show off celebrity homes (known as “cribs”) and leave music programming up to reality television.

Today's choice is brought to you by National Punctuation Day.

National Punctuation Day:  It's.................................awesome, isn't it?!

The written word is what drives much of the Internets - this blog is written in the written word, as an example.  And nothing can prolong and "eventualize" prose than punctuation.  It is a valuable tool for anyone who writes (even music), and an even more valuable tool to students who have to write when they really don't want to.

I’ve always been a fan of video games; they prove to be an ideal way to EffTD.  Whether you’re throwing around barrels or shooting at futuristic ones, video games are an instant escape into Eventualism.  Much like everything else (except perhaps for picnics), video games have evolved and improved.  I mean, one only has to look at Grand Theft Auto and its realistic approach to fake violence to see that.

In recent years, Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution have proven that anyone can dance or play guitar with a little practice and a lot of cheat codes.  And then last year, video game godsends Harmonix, released an amazing advancement in gaming and air band technology:  Rock Band.

There was a time in American history, not too long ago, where individuals scrambled from one device to another in order to EffTD more effectively.  Between their cellphone chatter, their TV watching and their Internets-surfing people were getting exhausted juggling all of these devices.  Then, one day, Steve Jobs invented the iPhone.  With a snap of his fingers perhaps the most effective EffTD tool was born.  But not in Canada - and its impending arrival next month had me salivating - until Mr. Rogers got involved.

This EffTD Tool Of The Day isn't so much a tool as it is a "secondary GOOROO."

The movie Free Willy was a breakthrough in cinema as far as I’m concerned.  Once I was able to get around it’s somewhat erotic title, I was able to see it for what it truly was:  a tale of how we all aim to be free.  It was after that movie I began my extensive research on the species, which, of course was after I returned the movie to the video store.

TVIn The 4 Hour Work Week, Tim Ferriss recommends that you go on a media diet, and take in only information that you actually need.  This diet includes reading.  Now, while I don't condone reading, I beg to differ with Mr. Ferriss' opinion - which I can because it's just an opinion.  You see, information is incredibly important in today's society.  If it wasn't, why would we have The Information Highway so the stuff can move at a fast pace?  At best, we'd need The Information Pony Express, or if we wanted to have inconsistent delivery of said information in more contemporary times, The Information Postal Service.  If you're reading this right now, I know you're not paying attention to Mr. Ferriss' advice - or already have and decided that Effing The Dog™ is more to your liking.  I also know you know how to use the Internet, or have someone looking over your shoulder that does.  But there is a tried, tested and true tool that you can also use to get pretty much every piece of information and misinformation out there:  Television.

EffTD Tool #1Music is wonderful.  It soothes the soul.  It can lift you up or bring you down.  It has a real emotional power attached to it.  And it’s the perfect way to EffTD™.

For example, have you ever been driving along and a song you haven’t heard in years comes on just as you’re about to pull in the driveway?  Of course - it’s a scientific fact that will happen to each person at least 11 times in their lifetime.  You’re faced with a choice:
