EffTD Tool #1Music is wonderful.  It soothes the soul.  It can lift you up or bring you down.  It has a real emotional power attached to it.  And it’s the perfect way to EffTD™.

For example, have you ever been driving along and a song you haven’t heard in years comes on just as you’re about to pull in the driveway?  Of course - it’s a scientific fact that will happen to each person at least 11 times in their lifetime.  You’re faced with a choice:

1.  Get out of the car and hope you can hear it inside, if you can find the station in time.

2.  Stay in the car until the song ends.

Someone who is practicing Effing The Dog™ stays in the car - and may even leave it running instead of turning the key so the engine is off.  That’s where you want to be.  In that car, listening to that song until it is done, and eventually you’ll get to the point where you may hope the next one is another song you’re dying to hear.

Now, not all music can cause you to EffTD™.  There are some faux-inspirational pieces of music out there, primarily instrumental pieces with inaudible humming or anything by Chicago.  The truth is, you need to be educated about the music you listen to in order to be Effing The Dog™ with flying colors.

That’s why I’m here.  I have provided you with some foolproof artists that will inspire you to accomplish very little over a long period of time.

1.  Cindy Davis Firstly, her voice is enough to make you think of anything but what you should be doing.  The fact that she has sold one of her songs to an Asian singer means she’s inadvertently spreading Effing The Dog™ to one of the most over-productive areas on Planet Earth.  Way to go, Cindy!

2.  Sym Choon Like Cindy, this band is not well known.  Yet.  Their hard-driving tracks will envelop you and leave you asking “What?” on two ways:  you won’t remember what you should be doing and you won’t be able to hear anyone ask you what you were supposed to be doing, either.

3.  Nickelback.  They simply inspire rage and violence which will totally get you off track.  You should probably be in a park with lots of open space and nothing breakable when listening to these guys.

4.  Gord Phillips.  His laid back style is enough to make you not think, but KNOW you don’t want to do anything right now.

5.  Blue Rodeo.  You’ll ask yourself “Are they rock?  Are they country?  What gives?”  over and over again.  Then, you’re Effing The Dog™!

And there you have it.  EffTD™ Tool of the Week number one.  Eventually, I'll post another tool.  Master the use of this one first.

You failed to provide the scientific likelihood of the perfect song coming on as you pull into your work parking lot when you've arrived only one minute late. This happens MORE often than in your own driveway.
