There once was a man named Trent D'Arby
Who one day thought he would a star be; After his hit "Wishing Well" His star quickly fell; Now he serves fries at McDonald's.

It’s both rewarding, exciting and encouraging to see larger corporations embracing EffTD and, ultimately, Eventualism Now. And by embracing, I mean acknowledging that they are doing it now as opposed to finding as many ways possible to denounce and deny it. Having said that, the fact this happened over an eventual period of time is a testament to how committed these juggernauts are to the ideology. It has come to my attention recently that a company on a major upswing has adopted EffTD wholeheartedly, and even has a product that reinforces it all on its own. I don’t know what took this organization so long, possibly the fact they have developed devices that actually save time and promote what David Allen calls GTD and what Merlin Mann preaches. (I think I just threw up in mouth a little.) The company is Apple, and this revolutionary product is the service known as MobileMe.

While it’s common knowledge that the American Presdential Election is one of the ultimate shows of Effing The Dog at work (with each campaign getting underway every four years), there are instances of EffTD wrapped within this ongoing saga. The whole thing kicks off with each potential candidate launching exploratory measures to see if they’ve got the chops to make it to the end of the marathon; soon followed by the rewarding primary season (named as such in that it lasts as long as a weather-based one); and then we finally go through the whole nomination process until a president is eventually voted for. Every step of the way on this journey is Eventualism working its gradual magic. In fact, I don’t think anyone would remember when this whole thing started was it not for the media throwing the current year into the mix - and then one has to subtract a year from that to remember when the first bit of campaigning got underway. Right now, Barack Obama and John McCain are at the next step of the process: vetting for running mates.

For the latest installment of The Effin' 7, I decided to try a little experiment. You see, I've been using the Flock web browser for quite some time, and the guest on this edition is none other than Evan Hamilton of, umm...Flock! So what I proposed is that since Flock incorporates one's Twitter account into the browser's sidebar (Flock prides itself as The Social Web Browser, after all), we do The Effin' 7 via "tweets" through the Flock sidebar. Evan was game...and here is The Effin' 7!

I’ve always been a fan of video games; they prove to be an ideal way to EffTD. Whether you’re throwing around barrels or shooting at futuristic ones, video games are an instant escape into Eventualism. Much like everything else (except perhaps for picnics), video games have evolved and improved. I mean, one only has to look at Grand Theft Auto and its realistic approach to fake violence to see that. In recent years, Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution have proven that anyone can dance or play guitar with a little practice and a lot of cheat codes. And then last year, video game godsends Harmonix, released an amazing advancement in gaming and air band technology: Rock Band.

A useful EffTD tool has become available to us today, thanks to Cali Lewis' experiment on UStream and a little chattiness on my part. After seeking approval, it has been granted and Effing The Dog is now Woopra-ized!
I'm watching all of you now....(insert constantly improving evil laugh here)...

The Olympics are in full swing in China right now, as I've recently been made aware. Rock Band does take a lot of my television viewing time up these days, especially since I can't drum my way out of a paper bag. I had no idea that being booed by a virtual audience would have the same effect as the same being done by a live audience. Video gaming sure has come a long way since Zaxxon. No way those faux 3-D futuristic-looking barrels could've mocked my mad skills! But, as usual, I digress. What better way to pay tribute to the Olympics - a series of sporting events that not only eventually takes place, but eventually captures the hearts of the nations that happen to do well, than by giving my loyal EffTDers a countdown of the top 5 EffTD Olympic sports. A quintathalon, if you will, of eventual performance.
